Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. किं बलं परमं तुभ्यं किं श्रुतं किं परायणम् ।
कथं भवन्तं विद्याम यो नो यज्ञं विगर्हसे ॥ १० ॥

kiṃ balaṃ paramaṃ tubhyaṃ kiṃ śrutaṃ kiṃ parāyaṇam |
kathaṃ bhavantaṃ vidyāma yo no yajñaṃ vigarhase || 10 ||
