Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. संचिन्तयामि वार्ष्णेय सदा कुन्तीसुतं रहः ।
किं नु तस्य शरीरेऽस्ति सर्वलक्षणपूजिते ।
अनिष्टं लक्षणं कृष्ण येन दुःखान्युपाश्नुते ॥ ४ ॥
