Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. संपीड्यात्मानमार्यत्वात्त्वया कश्चिदुपस्कृतः ।
जितं त्वां मन्यते साधो तेनासि हरिणः कृशः ॥ १४ ॥

saṃpīḍyātmānamāryatvāttvayā kaścidupaskṛtaḥ |
jitaṃ tvāṃ manyate sādho tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ || 14 ||
