Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. कृतघ्नस्तु मृतो राजन्यमस्य विषयं गतः ।
यमस्य विषये क्रुद्धैर्वधं प्राप्नोति दारुणम् ॥ ८० ॥

kṛtaghnastu mṛto rājanyamasya viṣayaṃ gataḥ |
yamasya viṣaye kruddhairvadhaṃ prāpnoti dāruṇam || 80 ||
