Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. उशना वेद यच्छास्त्रं यच्च वेद बृहस्पतिः ।
स्त्रीबुद्ध्या न विशिष्येते ताः स्म रक्ष्याः कथं नरैः ॥ ७ ॥

uśanā veda yacchāstraṃ yacca veda bṛhaspatiḥ |
strībuddhyā na viśiṣyete tāḥ sma rakṣyāḥ kathaṃ naraiḥ || 7 ||
