Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. पीत्वा च शोणितं हृष्टाः प्रानृत्यन्गणशोऽपरे ।
इदं वरमिदं मेध्यमिदं स्वाद्विति चाब्रुवन् ॥ १३१ ॥

pītvā ca śoṇitaṃ hṛṣṭāḥ prānṛtyangaṇaśo'pare |
idaṃ varamidaṃ medhyamidaṃ svādviti cābruvan || 131 ||
