Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. सैनिकान्स महेष्वासो योधांश्च भरतर्षभ ।
समादिशद्रणे सर्वान्हत भीममिति स्म ह ।
तस्मिन्हते हतं मन्ये सर्वसैन्यमशेषतः ॥ ३० ॥

sainikānsa maheṣvāso yodhāṃśca bharatarṣabha |
samādiśadraṇe sarvānhata bhīmamiti sma ha |
