Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. शृणु राजन्यदकरोत्तव सैन्येषु वीर्यवान् ।
अतीत्य स महाराज द्रोणानीकमहार्णवम् ॥ ९ ॥

śṛṇu rājanyadakarottava sainyeṣu vīryavān |
