The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

एतान् गृहस्थान् नृपतीनवेहि नैःश्रेयसे धर्मविधौ विनीतान् ।
उभे ऽपि तस्माद्युगपद्भजस्व चित्ताधिपत्यं च नृपश्रियं च ॥ २१ ॥

etān gṛhasthān nṛpatīnavehi naiḥśreyase dharmavidhau vinītān |
ubhe 'pi tasmādyugapadbhajasva cittādhipatyaṃ ca nṛpaśriyaṃ ca || 21 ||

'"Know that all these great kings who were householders were well skilled in attaining the merit which leads to final bliss,—do thou also therefore obtain both simultaneously—royal magnificence and the control over the mind.
