This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.6

अंगारिणो दानि द्रुमा भदन्त फलेसिनो + + + + + + ।
ते अर्चिमन्तो व प्रभासयन्ति समयो महावीर भगी रसानां ॥ ६ ॥

aṃgāriṇo dāni drumā bhadanta phalesino + + + + + + |
te arcimanto va prabhāsayanti samayo mahāvīra bhagī rasānāṃ || 6 ||

Now have the crimson trees, Lord, shed their mantle of old leaves to make ready for fruit. They are radiant as though they were aflame. The season, great Hero, is rich with the promise of succulent fruit. (6)
