This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 44.11

मार्गं पृच्छिता आख्याहि क्षेमं अकुटिलं ऋजुं ।
अकण्टकं च नो भद्रे गंसामि यवकच्छकं ॥ ११ ॥

mārgaṃ pṛcchitā ākhyāhi kṣemaṃ akuṭilaṃ ṛjuṃ |
akaṇṭakaṃ ca no bhadre gaṃsāmi yavakacchakaṃ || 11 ||

I pray you, lady, tell me the safe, the true, the straight and the easy way, and I shall go to Yavakacchaka. (11)
