The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.97.33

भृशं पिशाचाः पश्यन्ति भूतभोजनचिन्तया ।
धूमान्धकारानिलया ज्वालयाहुतयो यथा ॥ ३३ ॥

bhṛśaṃ piśācāḥ paśyanti bhūtabhojanacintayā |
dhūmāndhakārānilayā jvālayāhutayo yathā || 33 ||

The Pisacha cannibals are always in quest of human prey, and devour their bodies as the burning fire consumes the oblations. They are therefore in utter darkness of spiritual knowledge.
