The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.78.27

महाजलगतो ह्यग्निरिव रूपं स्वमुज्झति ।
सद्वासद्वा यदाभाति चित्समाधौ सति स्वतः ॥ २७ ॥

mahājalagato hyagniriva rūpaṃ svamujjhati |
sadvāsadvā yadābhāti citsamādhau sati svataḥ || 27 ||

The heart which is the body or seat of the intellect, is nothing essential by itself; it is called chitta or centre for concentrating chayana of the powers of the intellect, and also the hrid or heart, for its bearing harana of these powers to the other parts of the body; and therefore it is a dull material substance.
