The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीराम उवाच ।
यत्पूर्वमासीद्भगवंस्तदिदानीं तथैव हि ।
भविष्यति किमर्थं वै वद मे वदतां वर ॥ ५ ॥

śrīrāma uvāca |
yatpūrvamāsīdbhagavaṃstadidānīṃ tathaiva hi |
bhaviṣyati kimarthaṃ vai vada me vadatāṃ vara || 5 ||

Rama rejoined:—Tell me, O great preacher! how the past could be the same as at present, and how can these again be alike in future also.
