The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.69.24

मनः पश्यति वै देहं बालो वेतालकं यथा ।
स्वात्मानं विलयं नीत्वा न भूयस्तं प्रपश्यति ॥ २४ ॥

manaḥ paśyati vai dehaṃ bālo vetālakaṃ yathā |
svātmānaṃ vilayaṃ nītvā na bhūyastaṃ prapaśyati || 24 ||

The mind forgets its inward soul, and never looks towards it for a moment; it is solely occupied with its body, and looks at the phantom of the body, as a child looks at a ghost.
