The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.89.41

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
या संविद्वलिता साधो वासनामलतन्तुना ।
सुखदुःखदशादाहभागिनी भवतीह सा ॥ ४१ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
yā saṃvidvalitā sādho vāsanāmalatantunā |
sukhaduḥkhadaśādāhabhāginī bhavatīha sā || 41 ||

Vasishtha replied:—The conscious soul that believes itself to be embodied with its mortal body, and beset by the coils of its desires and the bonds of its affections, is here subjected both to the feeling of pleasure and the pangs of pain.
