The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
अतिशोकपराभूतौ तस्थतुर्दृढतापसौ ।
तापसंशुष्कसर्वाङ्गौ तावरण्यद्रुमाविव ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
atiśokaparābhūtau tasthaturdṛḍhatāpasau |
tāpasaṃśuṣkasarvāṅgau tāvaraṇyadrumāviva || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—The two sorrowful hermits continued in the observance of their rigorous austerities, until their bodies where emaciated as two withered trees in the forest.
