The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

हा कष्टमपि दुर्बुद्धेः सृष्टिर्मौर्ख्यवशं गता ।
असतैव यदेतेन जीवेनाप्युपपाद्यते ॥ १०८ ॥

hā kaṣṭamapi durbuddheḥ sṛṣṭirmaurkhyavaśaṃ gatā |
asataiva yadetena jīvenāpyupapādyate || 108 ||

Oh! the misery of miseries, that the ignorant make of this creation of their ignorance to themselves, and that they fabricate a living soul for their sufferings only.
