The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.31.18

मृतो बन्धुर्यथा स्वप्नेऽप्यनुभूतोऽप्यसन्मयः ।
मृतोऽयमिति चेज्ज्ञप्तिर्भवेदेवमिदं जगत् ॥ १८ ॥

mṛto bandhuryathā svapne'pyanubhūto'pyasanmayaḥ |
mṛto'yamiti cejjñaptirbhavedevamidaṃ jagat || 18 ||

As the sight of a dead friend in a dream is not a reality, so the notion of the reality of the world, ceases upon the conviction of its unreality, as that of the demise of the person seen in a dream.
