223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.96.47

मनो हि जडमन्यस्य भिन्नमन्यस्य जीवतः ।
तथाहंकृतिरन्यस्य बुद्धिरन्यस्य वादिनः ॥ ४७ ॥

mano hi jaḍamanyasya bhinnamanyasya jīvataḥ |
tathāhaṃkṛtiranyasya buddhiranyasya vādinaḥ || 47 ||

One takes it as dull matter, and another as the living principle; some one calls it the ego, while others apply the term understanding to it.
