The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

नरेण पौरुषेणैव कार्ये सत्तात्मके उभे ।
ईदृश्येतेन नियतिरेवं नियतिपौरुषे ॥ २२ ॥

nareṇa pauruṣeṇaiva kārye sattātmake ubhe |
īdṛśyetena niyatirevaṃ niyatipauruṣe || 22 ||

It is the union or conformity of human exertion, with the course of destiny or decree of God, that is productive of certain ends, which are respectively called their destiny and destined effects.
