The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.8.30; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.
Verse 4.8.30
tatraiva hāsyasya, yathā —
putras te navanīta-piṇḍam atanuṃ muṣṇan mamāntar-gṛhād
vinyasyāpasasāra tasya kaṇikāṃ nidrāṇa-ḍimbhānane |
ity uktā kula-vṛddhayā suta-mukhe dṛṣṭiṃ vibhugna-bhruṇi
smerāṃ nikṣipatī sadā bhavatu vaḥ kṣemāya goṣṭheśvarī ||4.8.30||
atrāpi mukhye gauṇasya |
An example with vatsala-rasa (primary) as the aṅgī and hāsya-rasa (secondary) as aṅga:
“ ‘O Yaśodā! Your son stole a big lump of butter from my house, put a little in the mouth of my sleeping baby, and then ran away.’ When an elderly woman complained in this way, Yaśodā threw a smiling glance at the face of Kṛṣṇa, who had a worried frown on His face. May that queen of Vraja shower auspiciousness on you!”
