Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. किमत्र कार्यं पार्थस्य कथं वा स प्रशस्यते ।
अन्यत्र कामाद्द्वेषाद्वा रोषाद्वास्मासु केवलात् ॥ २५ ॥

kimatra kāryaṃ pārthasya kathaṃ vā sa praśasyate |
anyatra kāmāddveṣādvā roṣādvāsmāsu kevalāt || 25 ||
