Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तमाहुरार्ता ऋषयो महर्षिं न ते वयं पुष्करं चोरयामः ।
मिथ्याभिषङ्गो भवता न कार्यः शपाम तीक्ष्णाञ्शपथान्महर्षे ॥ १४ ॥

tamāhurārtā ṛṣayo maharṣiṃ na te vayaṃ puṣkaraṃ corayāmaḥ |
mithyābhiṣaṅgo bhavatā na kāryaḥ śapāma tīkṣṇāñśapathānmaharṣe || 14 ||
