Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. पूर्वोपायोपपन्नेन मार्गेण वरवर्णिनि ।
न मे सुराः प्रयच्छन्ति भागं यज्ञस्य धर्मतः ॥ २६ ॥

pūrvopāyopapannena mārgeṇa varavarṇini |
na me surāḥ prayacchanti bhāgaṃ yajñasya dharmataḥ || 26 ||
