Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. दानाच्छेदे स्वयंकारी सुद्वारः सुखदर्शनः ।
आर्तहस्तप्रदो नित्यमाप्तंमन्यो नये रतः ॥ १९ ॥

dānācchede svayaṃkārī sudvāraḥ sukhadarśanaḥ |
ārtahastaprado nityamāptaṃmanyo naye rataḥ || 19 ||
