The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 13.45

भूत्वापरे वारिधरा वृहन्तः सविद्युतः साशनिचण्डघोषाः ।
तस्मिन् द्रुमे तत्यजुरश्मवर्षं तत्पुष्पवर्षं रुचिरं बभूव ॥ ४५ ॥

bhūtvāpare vāridharā vṛhantaḥ savidyutaḥ sāśanicaṇḍaghoṣāḥ |
tasmin drume tatyajuraśmavarṣaṃ tatpuṣpavarṣaṃ ruciraṃ babhūva || 45 ||

Others, having become great clouds, emitting lightning and uttering the fierce roar of thunderbolts, poured a shower of stones upon that tree,—but it turned to a pleasant shower of flowers.
