by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.236

न प्रष्टव्यसंज्ञा + + + + + + एवं स्थितस्य असमर्थो सि मार ॥ २३६ ॥

na rūpasaṃjñā na pi śabdasaṃjñā nāpi rasasaṃjñā na ca gandhasaṃjñā |

“I have no awareness of form, nor of sound, nor of taste, nor of smell, nor of touch. As I am thus conditioned thou canst not do aught to me, Mara. (236)
