This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 17.10

वयम् अपि लोकहिता बहु मनोरमां ओशिरित्वा कामरतिं ।
पूजार्थम् अनिन्दितस्य मनुष्यलोके वसिष्यामो ॥ १० ॥

vayam api lokahitā bahu manoramāṃ ośiritvā kāmaratiṃ |
pūjārtham aninditasya manuṣyaloke vasiṣyāmo || 10 ||

“We, too, O benefactor of the world, shall renounce the sweet delight of the pleasures of sense, and live in the world to the honour of the Blameless One. (10)
