Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.175.69

न जीवन्न मृतं चित्तं रोधमायाति संसृतेः ।
अविनाभाविदेहत्वाद्वोधात्त्वेतन्न पश्यति ॥ ६९ ॥

na jīvanna mṛtaṃ cittaṃ rodhamāyāti saṃsṛteḥ |
avinābhāvidehatvādvodhāttvetanna paśyati || 69 ||

Though it is difficult to repress the mind from its thoughts of this world, either in its states of living or death, (i.e. either in its waking or sleeping states); yet it is possible to do so by effacing its impressions at once, from the study of this spiritual sastra.
