The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

प्रवृत्तश्चौत्तमाब्जेन सौरभेणेव सौरभम् ॥ १ ॥

gantumevaṃ vicāryāhaṃ tatastatsaṃvidaikatām |
pravṛttaścauttamābjena saurabheṇeva saurabham || 1 ||

The ascetic sage continued:—I then thought of being united with his consciousness, and breathed out the breath of my life to be joined with his, as the ripe mango sends forth its flavour, to mix with the fragrance of lotus flowers.
