The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आसीच्चेतनवातात्माऽभविष्यत्प्राणिनामकः ।
रजसा पयसा व्याप्तस्तेजसा नभसाणुना ॥ १६ ॥

āsīccetanavātātmā'bhaviṣyatprāṇināmakaḥ |
rajasā payasā vyāptastejasā nabhasāṇunā || 16 ||

They existed in the form of the intelligent and airy soul, which was to be the living soul in connection with the body; composed of particles of the undivided elements, of earth, fire, water and air.
