The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.118.11

चञ्चवग्रे खञ्जरीटस्य कीटः किटिकिटायते ।
दौर्भाग्यस्य पुराणस्य पताकेवोच्छ्रितोन्नते ॥ ११ ॥

cañcavagre khañjarīṭasya kīṭaḥ kiṭikiṭāyate |
daurbhāgyasya purāṇasya patākevocchritonnate || 11 ||

As the cricket caught under the bill of wood pecker, whistles to his face; so the retribution of our past misdeeds, flies as a flag before us, and unfolds itself unto us.
