पूर्वदिङ्मुखसामन्तो ज्वरेणास्तमुपागतः ।
मन्ये जेतुं यमं यातस्त्वयारब्धो जितारिणा ॥ १६ ॥

pūrvadiṅmukhasāmanto jvareṇāstamupāgataḥ |
manye jetuṃ yamaṃ yātastvayārabdho jitāriṇā || 16 ||

Thy chieftain in the east is snatched away from his post, by the relentless hand of a fever whereupon he seems to have gone to the regions of death, to conquer as it were, the god Yama at thy behest.
