The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यावच्छरीरसत्ता चेच्चेतनस्य तदुच्यताम् ।
शवः कस्मान्न चलति सत्यखण्डे शरीरके ॥ ७ ॥

yāvaccharīrasattā ceccetanasya taducyatām |
śavaḥ kasmānna calati satyakhaṇḍe śarīrake || 7 ||

Should the soul be synchronous with the duration of the body, then say, why a death body does not move about, while it is yet unrotten and entire.
