The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पश्चात्तेषां स्वकर्माणि कारणं सुखदुःखयोः ।
आत्मज्ञानात्समुत्पन्नः संकल्पः कर्मकारणम् ॥ ५ ॥

paścātteṣāṃ svakarmāṇi kāraṇaṃ sukhaduḥkhayoḥ |
ātmajñānātsamutpannaḥ saṃkalpaḥ karmakāraṇam || 5 ||

The personal acts of men, are the causes both of their happiness as well as misery; and again the will which is produced by the conscious knowledge of one's self, becomes the cause of the action.
