The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

असदेव यथा द्वित्वं मोहादिन्दौ विलोक्यते ।
तथा स्फुरत्यहंकारो न सत्यो वाप्यसन्न च ॥ ३५ ॥

asadeva yathā dvitvaṃ mohādindau vilokyate |
tathā sphuratyahaṃkāro na satyo vāpyasanna ca || 35 ||

As it is the delusion of our vision, that represents a couple of moons in the sky, and shows many things as their doubles; so it is the error of our understanding that presents to us our false egoism, instead of the one real and everlasting ego.
