The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.28.79

रागद्वेषमयास्ते वै जम्बुकास्ते धिगस्तु तान् ।
मद्धनं भुक्तमन्येन धनं त्यक्तं मयाऽन्यतः ॥ ७९ ॥

rāgadveṣamayāste vai jambukāste dhigastu tān |
maddhanaṃ bhuktamanyena dhanaṃ tyaktaṃ mayā'nyataḥ || 79 ||

Those men who are wise and discreet, learned and attentive to their duties, and at the same time influenced by the feelings of love and hatred, are no better than jackals (or jack asses) in human shape, and are accursed with all their qualifications.
