The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

चेतस्ते दीपमुत्सृज्य विनिघ्नन्ति तमोऽञ्जनैः ।
विमूढाः कर्तुमुद्युक्ता ये हठाच्चेतसो जयम् ॥ ३८ ॥

cetaste dīpamutsṛjya vinighnanti tamo'ñjanaiḥ |
vimūḍhāḥ kartumudyuktā ye haṭhāccetaso jayam || 38 ||

Ignorant men who want to subdue the mind, by prescriptions of the Hatha-Yoga or bodily restraints; are like those silly folks, who want to dispel the darkness by black ink instead of a lighted lamp.
