The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.36.17

यः शब्दश्रवणादन्तः शब्दशक्तिं परामृशन् ।
रोमाञ्चं जनयत्यङ्गे स दूरस्थः कथं भवेत् ॥ १७ ॥

yaḥ śabdaśravaṇādantaḥ śabdaśaktiṃ parāmṛśan |
romāñcaṃ janayatyaṅge sa dūrasthaḥ kathaṃ bhavet || 17 ||

As the sound of music enters into the heart through the ears, and makes the heart strings to thrill, and the hairs of the body to stand at an end; so is thy presence perceived in our hearts also.
