The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

असन्नयमहंकारः स्वयं मिथ्या प्रकल्पितः ।
दुःखायैव न हर्षाय बालसंभ्रमयक्षवत् ॥ ३२ ॥

asannayamahaṃkāraḥ svayaṃ mithyā prakalpitaḥ |
duḥkhāyaiva na harṣāya bālasaṃbhramayakṣavat || 32 ||

Egoistic pride is unmannerly in men, and is taken in the light of vanity, it is the cause of sorrow and not delight; and is as bug-bears to boys.
