The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

वाञ्छैवोदेति ते कस्माद्भ्रान्तिरन्तर्निरर्थिका ।
अद्वितीयो द्वितीयं किं यद्वस्त्वात्माभिवाञ्छतु ॥ २३ ॥

vāñchaivodeti te kasmādbhrāntirantarnirarthikā |
advitīyo dvitīyaṃ kiṃ yadvastvātmābhivāñchatu || 23 ||

There is a certain illusion, which raises the false appetites within us; otherwise the unity of the soul requires the help of no duality or secondary substance, in order to be united with the sole unity.
