The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

प्रययुः क्वापि दीपौघा दिवसेनेव तारकाः ।
आययुर्बलमालोला नैशभूतपरम्पराः ॥ १७ ॥

prayayuḥ kvāpi dīpaughā divaseneva tārakāḥ |
āyayurbalamālolā naiśabhūtaparamparāḥ || 17 ||

The burning lights became as dim, as the fading stars of heaven by day light, and the darkness of night became as thick, as the devils of darkness gather their strength at night.
