Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. वासुदेव उवाच ।
संजयेदं वचो ब्रूया धृतराष्ट्रं मनीषिणम् ।
शृण्वतः कुरुमुख्यस्य द्रोणस्यापि च शृण्वतः ॥ १८ ॥

saṃjayedaṃ vaco brūyā dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ manīṣiṇam |
