Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. This portion also contains the Bhagavad-Gita. Alternative titles: Mahābhārata (महाभारत).

सरस्वत्याः सिद्धगणस्य चैव पूष्णश्च ये चाप्यमरास्तथान्ये ।
पुण्यानि चाप्यायतनानि तेषां ददर्श राजा सुमनोहराणि ॥ १३ ॥

sarasvatyāḥ siddhagaṇasya caiva pūṣṇaśca ye cāpyamarāstathānye |
