Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अथोत्तङ्कः शीतमन्नं सकेशं दृष्ट्वा अशुच्येतदिति मत्वा पौष्यमुवाच ।
यस्मान्मे अशुच्यन्नं ददासि तस्मदन्धो भविष्यसीति ॥ १२६ ॥

yasmānme aśucyannaṃ dadāsi tasmadandho bhaviṣyasīti || 126 ||
