Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. मत्वात्मानमपराद्धं स तस्य; जग्राह पादौ शिरसा चार्तरूपः ।
आश्वासयत्तं महात्मा तदानीं; गच्छन्नूर्ध्वं रोदसी व्याप्य लक्ष्म्या ॥ २१ ॥
