Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यः साधनार्थं काष्ठानि ब्राह्मणेभ्यः प्रयच्छति ।
प्रतापार्थं च राजेन्द्र वृत्तवद्भ्यः सदा नरः ॥ १४ ॥

yaḥ sādhanārthaṃ kāṣṭhāni brāhmaṇebhyaḥ prayacchati |
pratāpārthaṃ ca rājendra vṛttavadbhyaḥ sadā naraḥ || 14 ||
