Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अयं तु पापप्रकृतिर्बाले न कुरुते दयाम् ।
स्वयोनिं मानयत्येष भावो भावं निगच्छति ॥ १२ ॥

ayaṃ tu pāpaprakṛtirbāle na kurute dayām |
svayoniṃ mānayatyeṣa bhāvo bhāvaṃ nigacchati || 12 ||
