Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. युधिष्ठिर उवाच ।
युज्यतां मे रथवरः फल्गुनाप्रतिमद्युते ।
न सैनिकैश्च यातव्यं यास्यामो वयमेव हि ॥ १४ ॥
